Benefits of Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)

Airtightness is an increasing factor people consider when building a home in order to gain from the financial benefits of energy efficiency. Traditional ventilation methods such as window trickle vents and bathroom extractor fans are used by homebuilders, despite striving to create an airtight property. However, these ageing methods of traditional ventilation are often counterproductive to the quest for an airtight home.

In homes with low levels of airtightness, especially those seeking passive house certification, a ventilation system such as Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) is required to bring fresh air into the home. An MVHR system is usually the preferred method in airtight homes as it extracts moist stale air and supplies fresh warmed filtered air into the house while recovering up to 95 per cent of the heat of the extracted air.

  • Constant clean, fresh filtered air reduces symptoms for asthma and allergy sufferers
  • Improves indoor air quality throughout the home
  • Excellent Heat Recovery provides positive enhancement of energy efficiency in the home
  • Enhances heat distribution
  • Complete condensation control throughout
  • Eliminates mould & mildew
  • No need for window trickle vents or extractor fans.
  • Constant change of air without draughts
  • Removes musty odours
  • Quiet in operation
  • Economical to run
  • Aids Radon Dispersion
